For about six weeks every summer, the cherry trees across Gilgit-Baltistan explode with fruit. Locals harvest them by hand, spread them across flat stones and rooftops, and let the mountain sun do what no machine can replicate. What remains is intensely flavoured, naturally sweet-tart and unlike anything sold in a Pakistani supermarket.

Most commercial dried cherries are soaked in sugar syrup and coated in oil to look appealing on a shelf. Ours contain exactly one ingredient — cherries. Nothing added. Nothing artificial. Just the pure mountain fruit.
